Program
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM)
Credits 1

Military Medicine 5042 is the second of four foundational courses of the Military Medicine Program. The course builds upon the introduction provided in Military Medicine 5041.  It covers topics such as military customs and courtesies, leadership, professionalism, ethics, military environments, field exercises, disaster response, combat casualty care, and triage/evacuation in combat environments on land, sea and air.  During this semester students will apply knowledge of military customs and courtesies to present ceremonial events to the RVU and local communities, honoring past and present military service members.  They will also have an opportunity to present active research projects relevant to military medicine.  In addition, students may have the opportunity to liaison with leaders, educators, and military officers at U.S. posts, bases, medical centers, hospitals, and other sites. Military Expert guests, military officers, and appropriate civilian physicians and teachers will be hosted virtually and on campuses.  This course serves as the prerequisite for Mil Med 5043, Military Medicine III.
