The Masters of Science in Applied Osteopathic Biokinematics (MSAOB) program is designed to augment the student’s knowledge and application of the principles, philosophies, and procedures of Osteopathic medicine and biokinematics in both academic and clinical settings. Students will function as members of the Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP) department, aiding in aspects of the delivery of the OPP preclinical and clinical education curriculum. Students will develop skills necessary for the development, implementation, and publication of relevant osteopathic research.
The MSAOB program is a prestigious and highly competitive program open only to students who are actively enrolled in the RVUCOM OPP pre-doctoral fellowship program. Up to four students are chosen per campus per year. Participation in the MSAOB program extends the master's students’ tenure at RVU by one year. The program experiences typically will occur in years 3 and 4. Each masters student will alternately rotate between master's student duties and the clinical externships curriculum approximately every 3 months resulting in a six-month involvement in each year 3 and year 4. In year 5, master's students will return to the normal year 4 clinical externships curriculum. A MSAOB degree will be awarded concurrently with the DO degree at graduation.
